The Kid and the Mother

It was early 2005 during my visit to Shanxi did I met this wonderful kid who was weak, pale, lethargic and has multiple lymphadenopathy and both side of his neck was swollen and choked him. The attending physician worried that it could be malignant lymphoma. I looked at the child who was listless, tired yet calm and responsive. I was convinced that its tuberculous lympadenopathy and recommend investigations to confirm the diagnosis and also started anti-tubercular drugs. Praying that it works.

It is March 2006 and here we are back at Linfen to meet this active, smiley boy minus the big hump of swollen lymphnodes that surrounded his neck. The mother was happy and so is the boy who had grown to a young adult.
